Defrost
The EPC-2000 is capable of operating
up to thirty-two (32) defrost circuits,
in increments of eight circuits per relay
board. Each defrost relay board has eight
control relays, a single slave gas
solenoid relay, and eight digital inputs.
Gas Defrost Solenoid
Relay--Each defrost
relay board has a gas defrost
solenoid on board. The relay is
operated as a slave to the
individual circuit relays. An
eight position dip-switch assigns
control of the gas solenoid to
each individual circuit. When a
gas defrost circuit activates,
the gas solenoid relay also
activates.
Defrost Schedule--Each
defrost circuit can be scheduled
for up to 12 cycles per day, for
up to 120 minutes per cycle. The
defrost circuit can be assigned
as an Off-time, Gas or Electric
defrost. The EPC-2000 will check
the programmed schedule and will
not permit more than one gas
defrost to occur at a time.
Defrost Termination--Each
defrost circuit has a
pre-assigned digital input. This
input is designed for a dry
contact, close on termination
Clicks-On Thermodisk input. The
Clicks-On should be rated for the
desirable termination
temperature. When the digital
input reads a close signal, the
EPC-2000 will terminate the
defrost cycle.
Temperature Alarm--The
termination Clicks-On can cause a
case temperature alarm to
activate if the Clicks-On does
not reset after 60 minutes.
Fail-Safe Control--Each
Defrost Relay Board has a clock
and memory. Once the EPC-2000 has
been operating for over 24 hours,
the defrost relay board is
capable of operating
independently from the EPC. The
defrosts cycling will continue
whether the EPC is operating or
not.
